Chemical equilibria on the surface of silica chemically modified
with propionic acid were studied by quantitative physicochemical analysis.
The stoichiometric composition and stability constants of fixed complexes
were determined. The nature and concentration of the background electrolyte
in the water phase have been shown to affect decisevely the state
of counter-ions in the adsorptional layer of complexing silica.
