Crystal field effect on the optical properties of Mn2+ ions in luminophors based on CaF2 and CaAlF5

Individual bands of Mn2+ ion in the excitation spectra of CaF2:Mn and CaAlF5:Mn have been identified and the crystal-field parameters of these materials have been calculated. Decrease of B and increase of Dq parameters for CaAlF5 are associated with the increase of the covalence degree of the Mn2+-F bond.
