The molecular structure, spectral and acid-base characteristics
of some azacrown and alkylamino derivatives of dibenzylidenecyclopentanone,
fluorescent probes of promise, sensitive to alkali and alkali-earth
metal ions in biological objects, have been investigated. It has been
shown that the molecule of bis-dimethylamino dibenzalacetone derivatives
has bis-S-cis conformation in solutions similar to the
"fixed" one of its cyclopentanone analogs. Dialkylamino groups were
found to be protonated at close pH values due to the absence of electron
effects transmittance through carbonyl group.
