A comprehensive study of materials in the ZrO2–TiO2 system with the stoichiometry of ZrTiO4 and ZrTi2O6 was carried out using optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction analysis, which allowed us to obtain a number of important results. It is shown that the selected high-speed firing mode at 1300 °C ensures the formation of target phases based on zirconium titanate in a metastable state with a content of 12 to 17 vol. %. It was established that under thermodynamically non-equilibrium conditions, zirconium dioxide is not stabilized in the tetragonal modification and is identified as monoclinic baddeleyite. The analysis of XRD patterns made it possible to refute the presence of (Mg0.2Zr0.8)O1.8 impurities and to prove that the characteristic diffraction maxima are the result of ordering processes in the ZrTiO4 solid solution. The obtained data confirm the possibility of using such compositions as a functional basis for microwave ceramic dielectrics.
